Team Lithuania is known for their tall and athletic big-man plus the ability to shoot from outside, however, Philippines-Ateneo Blue Eagles had an answer on how to counter them.
The Blue Eagles turned took advantage of their size as they displayed run-and-gun tempo along with their sharpness on their game execution. With that strategy, team Philippines able to beat their opponent, 98-65, in Xinzhuang Gymnasium in Taiwan.
Ateneo’s William Ranidel Navarro introduced himself to the international basketball competition by scoring 20 points. It was Navarro’s best scoring output in the 40th William Jones Cup.
Navarro who is only averaging 3.8 points a game surprised their opponent with his sharpshooting as he converted his jumpers along with his strong drive to the basket. He was on target from the field as he only missed three times out of his thirteen attempts.
