Barangay Ginebra San Miguel shown no mercy as they cruised past the Alaska Aces with a blowout win, 105-86.
Justin Brownlee just needed 29 minutes of playing time to lead his teammates as he registered 28 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.
Barangay Ginebra pounded Alaska since the start of the quarter as they pile a 14-point lead. Then they followed it up with another surge in the third quarter as the advantage ballooned to 33 points after LA Tenorio converted a free-throw in the starting quarter of the second half.
Coach Tim Cone is happy of what he’s currently seeing and thinks that his wards ate some mytical foods that made them unstoppable.
“We’re on a roll, and I’m not sure what we’re doing to get us in a roll. But it just seems that everything is coming together for us right now,” marveled Ginebra head coach Tim Cone.
“So right now, we’re in a good roll and we’ll go with it as long as we can. I wish we had some magic food that we’re eating or something, and we’ll just keep feeding them.”
With the Gin Kings victory, they’re now tied with the GlobalPort Batang Pier at the number six position of the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup standings. That slot is so important as it will keep a team from going head-to-head with another squad that carries twice-to-beat incentive in the quarterfinals round.
Alaska continued to play without their one of their main men in Calvin Abueva. Likewise, Aces’ prized rookie Jeron Teng still out due to the stabs he got from the incident which he was involved earlier.
Vic Manuel carried the Uytengsu franchise as he continues his 20-point game streak. Known as “the Muscleman” registered 20 points and grabbed four rebounds.
Alaska’s import Antonio Campbell was the missing piece in coach Alex Compton’s scoring rotation. Campbell scored a dismal six points along with his eight rebounds.
