For over a year, the San Miguel Beermen has shown mastery over the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters and this continues in their Game 1 in quarterfinals round.
However, the KaTropa are looking to break that losing spell and will avoid to be swept when they resume their unfinished business with San Miguel this evening.
In their first encounter last Monday, Talk ‘N Text started the game with hot shooting then SMB stormed back to win it all 121-110.
The last time Talk ‘N Text tasted a win against the Beermen was in last year’s Commissioner’s Cup Game 4 Finals then the domination of the Fajardo-led squad started as it now reaches to seven straight.
SMB head coach Leo Austria is expecting much intense basketball this afternoon knowing that their opponent is at the brink of getting eliminated from contention.
“Their back is against the wall, siguradong mas mabigat na laban ang ibibigay nila,” said Austria whose team needed to overcome a 23-point deficit to salvage the series opener.
One of the main reason of the San Miguel comeback was the absence of the TNT import Joshua Smith. Smith was seen sitting the majority of the game in the bench due to foul troubles then on the fourth quarter he committed his last foul with three minutes remaining in the game.
“Hindi ko na itatago, our game plan was to send them into foul-trouble, at iyon naman ang nangyari,” said Austria.
