The Philippines-Ateneo Blue Eagles used the third quarter to initiate their attack and defeat Indonesia Men’s Basketball squad, 89-78 yesterday in Taiwan.
Thirdy Ravena once again shown his court-vision skills as he locate Isaac Go open from beyond the three-point territory and puts the game tied at 55-all with 5:25 remaining.
Ravena then added that Go converted trey by a coast-to-coast play that leads to an easy lay-up.
Afterwards, the tandem of Ravena and Go were in full throttle as they led the Blue Eagles attack in a massive 18-2 run. That puts Indonesia away from striking distance as Ateneo outscored their opponent in the third period, 35-18.
Apart from Ravena and Go, sharpshooter Anton Asistio added to Indonesian’s problem after he sank another Blue Eagles triple as the lead reaches to nineteen, 83-64.
But the Indonesia refused to surrender the game as they made their own adjustment and orchestrated a 10-0 surge to reduce the Ateneo lead back to a single-digit.
Then Jolo Mendoza has decided to join the scoring party after converting his three-pointer and that stopped Ateneo’s drought.
Indonesia late run wasn’t enough to complete a comeback and absorbed another loss in the current Jones Cup tournament.
Coach Tab Baldwin limits the playing time most of his gunners due to the daily schedule of the tourney. Isaac Go played only 13 minutes but his output is magnificent. Go had a team-high 21 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 2 steals who only missed once from the rainbow territory out of his seven attempts.
Thirdy Ravena continue to display his consistent performance in Jones Cup. Ravena logged 14 points seven rebounds and five assists while Ateneo’s reinforcement Angelo Kouame and Pat Maagdenberg added 14 points.
