The young Gilas Pilipinas boys are set to meet the young Australian Boomers in the semi-final round of the FIBA Under-18 Asian Championship.
Team Philippines is now in the final-four of the tournament after they sent home the team Bahrain yesterday, 67-52. Likewise, team Australia had no problem disposing team Japan in their quarterfinals round as they won the match 88-52.
In the early going of the game, team Japan kept the score close but team Australia orchestrated a 14-4 surge as they end first quarter and was up, 23-13.
Then it was all Boomers for the rest of the following quarters.
Last July 1, the senior team of both ball-clubs were involved in a brawl as they fought for a seat for the upcoming 2019 FIBA World Cup. That resulted to hefty fines and players suspension.
Team Philippines and team Australia both have a perfect 4-0 win-loss card in the ongoing tournament held in Thailand.
Game time is set at 6:45 PM (Philippine time) this Friday.
The other top two teams which are also playing in the semis is young Tall Blacks of New Zealand up against team China. Winner of that game will meet the winner of the Philippines versus Australia in the Finals round.
