The back-to-back champion of the Governors’ Cup is back to defend their title and for their first game this third conference, the Columbian Dyip is there to do the honors of welcoming them.
Still fresh from winning their 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup trophy against their sister-company, the San Miguel Beermen, the Gin Kings will pound again the floors of the Big Dome at 7:00 P.M.
Permiter shooter Jervy Cruz won’t be available in their third conference debut due to an injury which needs a surgery. The former UST Growling Tiger forward is having a foot injury which also made him sidelined in the early stages of the second conference.
Apart from Cruz, the Gin Kings will be returning to the hard-court in full force led by their dependable import, Justin Brownlee who was the best foreign hire last conference.
In contrast, the Columbian Dyip already have a taste of the ongoing Governors’ Cup and so far still searching for its victory. Their last defeat came from Meralco Bolts, Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters and NLEX Road Warriors.
Despite of Dyip’s shortcomings and still win-less campaign, sleek point guard Jerramy King still optemistic that they can topple the season-ending conference giant.
“It’s gonna be a tough challenge, but we’re up to it,” said King who is leading his team in the scoring category with his 24.3 points per outing.
“This team is hungry for a win. We’ll just have to keep on fighting,” he added.
