Yes, you read it right! Greg Slaughter and Sol Mercado will return to the lineup of Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and both will suit up in their out-of-town game.
If Gin Kings lineup are slowly recovering, their today’s opponent the Elasto Painters are hurting not due to a player’s injury but a player who is currently missing in action.
That Elasto Painter is Raymond Almazan, one of the key players of coach Caloy Garcia squad.
Both teams will are scheduled to go head-to-head at 5:00 PM in Quezon Convention Center in Lucena, Quezon.
Ginebra is currently at the number one spot in the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup standings having 5-1 slate while Rain or Shine are still winless.
With Almazan not in the lineup, Ginebra has the big advantage and poised to extend their winning streak to five and make a decent separation from Magnolia Hotshots and Alaska Aces which also sporting one loss.
“The last time I heard from him was before their game against Magnolia. Ako daw magsabi na hindi siya makakarating dahil uuwi siya sa kanila (in Bataan). He has missed two games and hasn’t shown up in practice,” said Danny Espiritu (Almazan’s agent).
Last time both team met was during the semis of 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup. Ginebra won that match 3-1 and eventually took home the trophy of second conference.
