The Manila Classico is finally here but this classic match-up means more to Barangay Ginebra.
“It’s a critical game for us in many levels,” said coach Ginebra head coach Tim Cone.
Keeping the winning ways are what the Hotshots wanted to achieve this evening while the Gin Kings are aiming for the Top Four finish and of course its rewards.
If Ginebra fails then their twice-to-beat advantage can be in jeopardy as the Alaska Milk, Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters, Blackwater Elite and the San Miguel Beermen are in a close chase.
Magnolia on the other hand is secured with the win-once in the quarterfinals after beating the Talk ‘N Text KaTropa Texters few days ago.
However, that is not enough for Magnolia head coach Chito Victolero. They also wanted to end their “Manila Classico” losing drought.
Gin Kings on the other hand should go out with a sense of urgency.
“We need it for the Top Four position which in itself is critical,” said Cone.
To strengthen their tonight’s bid, coach Cone will unleash Greg Slaughter and Sol Mercado who was out majority of their games this third conference.
