It’s the Manila Classico once again but this time around both Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok will be playing in the semis of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup.
Game time will be at 6:30 PM and will be played at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Barangay Ginebra has mastered the Hotshots for the past two years and winning all of the “Manila Classico” elimination round matches.
The last time they met was not so long ago and as usual it was the Gin Kings ended up winning.
One of the key factor of that victory was shutting down Ian Sangalang who got 0 points in 0-of-9 shooting from the field.
In Game 1 of this series, it seems coach Tim Cone wanted to do the same to Paul Lee. Lee who is a known streaky shooter and can knockout deep three-pointers.
“Then you’ve got the great Paul Lee. He controls the game. He just plays in a different tempo than everybody else. He just controls the game. You’ve really got to try to figure out a way to knock him off his rhythm because he plays with such a tremendous rhythm,” said Cone.
Justin Brownlee is on its way on winning another Best Import award and if it happen then it will be two in a row for him. Brownlee took that honors last 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup and then he continue his great performance until they won the trophy.
Yet, before all of those things happen again, Ginebra needs to take care their business against the dangerous Pambansang Manok.
