The “Manila Classico” semis edition will resume tonight, both the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the Magnolia Hotshots will go against each other at 7:00 PM scheduled at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Justin Brownlee dropped 20 points in the first quarter of Game 1 but the adjustment of the Hotshots in the next quarters went effective and limited the scoring production of Ginebra’s import.
Still, Browlee logged almost a tripe-double performance with his 37 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists.
Greg Slaughter had a hard time operating inside the post as Magnolia rotated three players in order to stop him. Slaughter only managed to contribute eight points along with his nine rebounds.
Usually, Ginebra is playing a slow paced tempo and focused most of its efforts on the defensive end. However, these characteristics were not evidently seen.
Coach Tim Cone is fully aware of it.
“They played the game they wanted to play. We played their game, so we got to be better,” said Tim Cone.
Magnolia were successful on snapping their long losing skid against Ginebra.
