The 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup semi-finals series for the Meralco Bolts and the Alaska Aces will resume tonight at 7:00 PM and will be played in the Mall of Asia Arena.
The winning streak of the Bolts has extended to the semis and they’re now enjoying a seven-game winning streak after having a woeful start.
Meralco began their third conference journey with 1-6 slate and was in danger to get eliminated.
The Bolts probably used that scenario as their motivation and it appears everyone have stepped up and surprisingly they’re now leading in the series against their opponent at 1-0.
Alaska Aces finished the elimination round as one of the Top Four squads which also carries a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
They only needed one game to dispose the San Miguel Beermen but it didn’t come with out costing them.
On that first playoffs round, Aces point guard Chris Banchero twisted his ankle and that is one of the reasons of their slow start against Meralco.
Although he was able to finish with 16 points, four rebounds and four assists but to them it seems that coach Alex Compton has limited his minutes.
In Game 2 he continue to be a game time decision.
“It’s up to (Alaska) coach (Alex Compton) but I hope to play big minutes,” said Banchero. “It’s a huge game, it really is. We can’t go down 2-0 against a team like Meralco, that’s going to be a problem.
