Barangay Ginebra San Miguel is on a roll and made three-game consecutive wins as they cruise past Columbian Dyip, 134-107.
Justin Brownlee continued to have an awesome performance in the on-going 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup by logging double-double output with his 24 points and 10 rebounds.
Then there’s the newly added stretch player Jeff Chan who was traded from Phoenix Petroleum Fuel Masters earlier. Beyond his four points contribution, Chan was +22 in efficiency.
That means that each time he’s on the floor, his team had the scoring advantage. Also, it was an indication that the “Negros Sniper” immediately made a good chemistry with his new teammates.
Scottie Thompson added another triple-double stat in his career as he dropped 12 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists.
However, having that consecutive victories still doesn’t mean anything according to Ginebra’s head coach Tim Cone.
“The winning streak doesn’t really mean anything. It’s all about the next game,” said Cone.
Columbian Dyip was hyped and energized in the first quarter as they keep the game close at the end of the initial quarter with 30-29. Thanks to Sol Mercado’s buzzer-beating layup.
Then the following quarters were all Ginebra and the Dyip weren’t able to recover as they succumbed another defeat which put their playoffs chances in peril.
Columbian Dyip import John Fields led his team in scoring as well in rebounds by logging 30 points and 16 rebounds.
