Ginebra Keeps Its Manila Classico Winning Streak

Barangay Ginebra San Miguel continued to show their mastery against the Magnolia Hotshots Pambansang Manok during the one of the most anticipated matches in the PBA.

Justin Brownlee services was recalled by Barangay Ginebra few weeks ago and his presence is now starting to be felt. As usual, Brownlee was ready to perform in one of the biggest stages of the league as he managed to score 35 points along with his eight rebounds and four assists.

“We picked tonight to play our best game of the conference, obviously. We’re getting a little bit more comfortable and back to where we were with Justin, and I think we’re just feeling a lot better,” said Ginebra head coach Tim Cone.

LA Tenorio breaks another 20-point output by logging 22 points plus his six rebounds and five assists. Scottie Thompson chipped in with his eight points and 11 rebounds which made the crowd crazy each time he pulled one.

The game went close during the first half of basketball action. Ginebra attempted to make a separation by leading 25-17 in the start of the quarter but the Hotshots retaliated immediately by answering a 10-point spurt. Both teams was tied at the end of the second quarter with 44-all score.

In the second half, Ginebra made another surge behind the six unanswered points from Greg Slaughter which puts the score 65-57. Then Justin Brownlee tagged with LA Tenorio for back-to-back long bombs as they end the third quarter, 79-65.

Magnolia was unable to recover as they only trimmed down the lead to only 11-point while the Ginebra continued their hot shooting.

Justin Jackson powered the Hotshots with his 21 points and 15 rebounds while Jio Jalalon chipped in with 17 points, seven rebounds, four steals and three assists.

With the Gin Kings victory, they have kept their winning streak and extended it now to seven.
