Seems like the Alaska Aces found its old form as they know once again how to pile many wins in the elimination round.

The entire Alaska squad are looking to keep the momentum as they enter the quarterfinals round and face the hot streaking Magnolia Hotshots and Pambansang Manok.

The Aces finished the elimination round at number two while the Hotshots landed at seventh. With their stellar performance, Alaska was rewarded with a twice-to-win advantage.

Alaska was behind with the conference standings leader Rain or Shine Elasto Painters, they’re hoping that the advantage they carry will help them find a way and move to Magic Four which they haven’t done in a while now.

However, it seems that the Pambansang Manok like their current situation.

“It will be a dogfight,” said Magnolia coach Chito Victolero.

“We’re the underdog, but we’re ready to battle and my players know what it takes to win this game. We’ll take it one one game at a time,” Victolero added.

Magnolia needed to replace three imports until they settled down with Wayne Chism who was a Best Import in the league. Although the Hotshots struggled to log Ws in their standings prior to the arrival of Chism, coach Alex Compton finds them a dangerous opponent.

“Magnolia has been one of the best teams in the PBA for the past two years now. This will be a battle. They are very talented and are doing a great job playing as a team. We are expecting them to be very very tough,” said Compton.

The last time these two teams meet it was Alaska come-up as the victorious squad, 103-99. Vic Manuel went unconscious as he logged his career-high with 35 points.

However, today’s battle will be a different one as both teams will feature new imports and Ian Sangalang is now back in Magnolia’s side.
