Barangay Ginebra import Justin Brownlee continued his stellar performance in the Commissioner’s Cup especially in the playoffs by logging 44 points in Game 3 last Saturday.

It seems like a usual thing of Brownlee, his scoring onslaught always starts in the first half and in their previous game, he logged 25 points in the first 24 minutes of basketball action at the Mall of Asia Arena.

To become the go-to-guy in the offense is what Justin Brownlee’s role in the team, that could be his first instruction from coach Tim Cone.

“Coach Tim always tells me to be aggressive,” Brownlee said.

“He always puts me in what I feel like a perfect situation for me to be successful on the offensive end. Like what my teammates have been doing this whole conference and throughout the playoffs, they get me the ball in comfortable situations for myself and I’ve been able to capitalize,” he added.

This is now the fourth straight games that the beloved Barangay Ginebra import scored 20 points or more in the opening half. His streak began against his arch-rival team especially in the Governor’s Cup, the Meralco Bolts in Game 2 where he tallied 24 points in the first and second period.

It seems not enough for Brownlee, that performance continued in their semi-finals series with the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

However, although scored 20 points in the first 24 minutes of action in Game 2, he failed to rally his team in the next half as he was only limited to nine point. Ginebra eventually lost in that game behind the hot shooting of James Yap and Reggie Johnson.

In Game 3, Brownlee immediately redeemed himself as he shown scoring consistency for the rest of the game. He shoots 14-of-19 from the field but the victory was almost taken away by Rain or Shine.

“I felt good. Everytime I shoot, I felt it was going in. Whenever I feel like that, I just want to stay aggressive and help the team win,” Brownlee said.
