The 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup finalist are scheduled to clash once again but this time around, the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel and the San Miguel Beermen in the elimination round of the 2018 PBA Governors’ Cup.

At the end of the duel, both the Gin Kings and the Beermen are looking to improve their standings. Ginebra is currently at 3-1 while San Miguel holds a 2-1 slate.

Justin Brownlee will continue to reinforce the squad he led to championship last conference while SMB no longer have Renaldo Balkman but with Arizona Reid.

Fans will miss one of the main attractions of the match which is the clash of the Titans. Both June Mar Fajardo and Greg Slaughter will watch their respective teams from sidelines as they continue to nurse their injury.

Apart from GregZilla, fanatics of Ginebra will also miss Japeth Aguilar, Jervy Cruz, Sol Mercado and Raymond Aguilar also due to injury. Without them in the lineup of coach Tim Cone last Friday, the Gin Kings unable to pull a victory against the surging Blackwater Elite as they took their first defeat in this third conference.

On the other hand, prior to Blackwater and Ginebra clash two nights ago, the Beermen caught fire from three-point line as the team of coach Leo Austria sank 23 treys against the Columbian Dyip.

“That’s the kind of performance we’re looking for as we wanted to boost our morale for our game against Ginebra,” said San Miguel coach Leo Austria.

Arwind Santo who only averaged less than 4 points per outing this conference brokeout as the former MVP dropped 29 points. Marcio Lassiter strenghten the attack by logging his own six three-pointers.

SMB import had a slow start in that game but still able to notch a triple-double stats. Reid got 16 points, 17 rebounds and 11 assists where most of his damage came in the second half.

“I stressed that at the half. We’re No. 1 on offense but our problem is defense. We gave away 66 points in the first half. Fortunately, our offense was superb. The turning point was when we started playing defense in the third,” said Austria.
