Team Pilipinas is currently in two-game losing skid and in a must-win situation to solidify their bid to gain the ticket going to China next year.

Currently, Philippines is in third place in Group F of the competition.

During the first window of the tournament, Gilas able to win four out of six games. Coach Yeng Guiao and his current lineup don’t want to put the effort of coach Chot Reyes to waste.

“Coach Yeng emphasized how important the Qatar game is for us. We are practically treating it like a do-or-die game,” said Ryan Gregorio, the special assistant to the SBP president who also serves as among the deputies of Guiao in the national team.

Japeth Aguilar and Matthew Wright are back in the official lineup submitted by SBP to FIBA. With their deep experience in an international game, coach Yeng is hoping that their presence will stop the bleeding for the national squad.

Christian Standhardinger will be sidelined at least in their game against Qatar as Stanley Pringle will takeover as the team’s naturalized player.

Back in the final roster for tonight’s game are team captain Gabe Norwood, Scottie Thompson, Alex Cabagnot, Marcio Lassiter, Paul Lee, Ian Sangalang, JP Erram, Beau Belga, and Asi Taulava.

Gilas Pilipinas are almost undefeated playing at home, they’re able to beat Chinese Taipei and team Japan but lost to Australian Boomers as they left with only two players in the basketball court while others are either fouled out or got thrown due to a technical foul.

On the other hand, Qatar still searching for their first victory on the road.

Also last Thursday, the Qatari squad were busy at their home playing against team Australia. To strenghten their squad, they activated the services of Tanguy Alban Ngombo.

Ngombo was a 2011 second round 57th pick in the NBA selected by the Dallas Mavericks. The 6-foot-6 delivered 14 points and eight rebounds but in a losing effort.

The Boomers were too much for team Qatar as the game ended in a blowout 43-95.
